Survey Supports Top Reasons for Remodeling
We’ve been saying all along that the top reasons for remodeling are to update a home’s kitchen or bathroom or to create a full scale home addition with upgraded features. You know exactly why you’re spending your time and treasure on a remodeling project, and you should share those reasons with your custom remodeler. This will help you to get what you want, because your remodeler will know why you’re investing your hard-earned cash with him.
Supporting our experience in the field, this month’s Construction Dive on-line publication quoted the National Association of Homebuilders’ (NAHB) first quarter remodeling index listing of the top three reasons for remodeling: desire for newer/better amenities, need to repair/replace old components, and the desire/need for more space.
Surprisingly, to both the survey reporters and to us, is the down-trend of energy and environmental efficiency. The survey said this has become less important to homeowners in the last five years. Construction Dive also reports that Houzz said remodelers face a tough skilled labor market, and it is difficult to find enough qualified carpenters and framers. At Thomas Custom Builders, we use our expertise in design/build and we have our own carpenters and framers who are a trusted part of our team. They don’t compromise. They get it right.
Finally, when it comes to trends in types of remodeling jobs, our local experience mirrors the national trends of more than half of jobs being kitchen and bath remodeling projects. While other remodelers are seeing increases of 10 percent on whole-house remodels, 12 percent on room additions, eight percent on finished basements and seven percent on bathroom additions, we are doing whole home additions and remodeling jobs in greater numbers every year. As a design/build firm, we can provide the vision and the structure that creates your dream home. That’s where you, the consumer, want to spend your treasure. Let Thomas Custom Builders do it right for you.
