“Show me in writing!” Part 3
Business Licenses
Ensure your contractor is legitimate – are they truly a home improvement contractor, or are they a “Johnny-come-lately” handyman on steroids? Contractors can attempt (and unfortunately sometimes succeed) to fool you by changing namesmultiple times to avoid past customer complaints and problems.
A good method to check a contractor’s standing is by checking with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Some companies will be legitimately new, so in that case ask the business owner about their work history and DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS! This is not a time to be timid – it’s your home and your kitchen, bath, or addition.
