Maximize the Selection Process
Your most important job as a remodeling homeowner is the selection process. Many home builders will say this is the most fun, as well.
Fun or not, It makes sense that you should be confident of your choices and have researched them extensively. Bud did you ever think of what actually should go into the selection process? It’s more than a single day of work. In fact, you should leave enough time to compare prices and shop around.
First, decide how you will choose your amenities for your new home. You’ll want to select pieces that are part of your vision. Contractors are not mind readers, and they should not be left to their own devices in picking out your décor. You most likely have an opinion – now is the time to make it heard. Next, allot the time so you’ll be able to thoroughly research each product. You need to make decisions with a strong knowledge base. Know all your choices, and be able to choose items that will help make your vision a reality. If you feel overwhelmed with the number of choices, simply start with the things that are most important to you. Then, everything will flow from those choices. For example, if you know you want a certain color and type of granite countertop, start by choosing the granite. Then, you can base your floor or cabinet selection on the granite selection. These things will automatically fall into place.
Your selection process is also important because you can affect lost time and schedules by making your selections. The more you shop, the more you save! And the more you remodel, the more you shop for the best selections!
