Kitchen Design Challenge
Thermador, a manufacturer of high-end kitchen appliances, recently announced the Thermador Kitchen Design Challenge for designers, builders, architects, remodelers and kitchen dealers to enter their “most breathtaking kitchens” designed with Thermador products over the last two years. They’ll be giving away $100,000 in prizes. While most of these entries will be over-the-top, awesome displays of kitchen innovations, they will inspire ideas at all levels.
You may have your own kitchen design challenges, but you don’t have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a kitchen remodel. Working with an experienced custom remodeler, you can communicate your desires and budget, and the remodeler will share some pretty creative ideas. Your space doesn’t have to be big – it may just need to be more efficient. Your layout doesn’t have to be fancy – it may just need to be simplified. Designers and builders can work wonders with cabinetry, pantries and lighting to give you the look and practicality you need. If you have the space to expand your kitchen and use previously unused dining room or family room space, it will give you a bigger area.
Work within your means, but select the best materials you can afford. Don’t skimp on fixtures or flooring, because in the long run, you will end up replacing them. Choose the best appliances you can afford, but select those with the features you will actually use, not those that will impress your friends. Look for ideas in magazines and even in the Design Challenge entries. Then challenge your custom remodeler to make it work for you.
