Bathroom Luxuries: Worth the Investment?
At the end of a long work day, nothing feels better than a nice, hot shower or a relaxing soak in the tub. For many, the bathroom is the perfect place to unwind and ease the tension of the day, so it is only natural that it should feel like an inviting place to go. Of course, functionality is the most important factor when renovating a bathroom. If it doesn’t “work” for you, it really doesn’t matter how beautiful or upgraded it is. When all is said and done, you must be able to easily and efficiently use the space and all of its features. But if you have the urge to splurge, here are some of the more popular bathroom splurges:
Showers/Showerheads: Multi-jet showers, multiple showerheads, massaging showerheads and rainfall showerheads are becoming increasingly prevalent in upscale baths. No longer are showers just a place to take a quick rinse. Rather, they are a sacred spot to decompress and perhaps even practice a rendition of your favorite song. When considering massaging or rainfall showerheads, keep in mind that they are costlier because they have more controls and settings. Plus, multiple showerheads require more water and sufficient water pressure. Be sure to check this before purchasing. Enhance your shower’s look and function by adding a granite sill around the shower or a granite bench next to it.
Heated Tile Floor: This is definitely an indulgence, especially on chilly, winter mornings. Wouldn’t it be nice to get out of your warm bed and instead of stepping onto the frigid flooring in your bathroom, you could pad warmly across a heated floor? Today’s heated tile floors even come with a programmable thermostat so that your floors will already be warm when you wake up in the morning. It’s like having an electric blanket under your tile floor!
Soaking Tubs: Jacuzzis and tubs with grand steps are becoming a thing of the past, and homeowners are making way for the latest trend–soaking tubs. They can be the standard length of five feet, but are deeper than a regular tub so you can be fully submerged. They utilize space efficiently and provide the luxury you’re craving in a tub. Many also come with built-in heaters and massaging jets, so you can have an authentic, Zen-like experience without ever leaving your home.
